Vertical AIT is a system integrator and industrial automation consultancy founded in 2014. We specialize in bespoke process control solutions, helping companies digitize physical operations by integrating instrumentation, actuators, and customized control logic into their facilities.​

While we handle standard automation builds, our true sweet spot is solving complex engineering challenges. We excel at:

James Dean

Founder & CEO

James has spent 30+ years building control and data acquisition systems, starting with LabVIEW during his university days. With a Physics degree (and Math/Electrical Engineering minors) from UT Austin, he is a Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) and Certified Professional Instructor (CPI). His career spans 12 years supporting spaceflight hardware testing at NASA Johnson Space Center followed by 14+ years in industrial systems integration. He focuses on the interfaces between hardware and software, ensuring real-world sensors, actuators, and control code work as cohesive systems. James loves new design challenges and troubleshooting hard problems. Whether working on high-pressure test systems, oilfield skids, aerospace test platforms, or mobile factories, he helps teams build reliable automation outside the traditional factory floor.
